SPRAGUE

The largest towboat ever built. Built at Dubuque, Iowa, 1902, and retired in 1948. Handled the largest tow by any steamboat, 67,307 tons of coal. Burned at Vicksburg, Mississippi, on May 15, 1974, sank on July 5, 1979, and was dynamited in January, 1981. Details include pilothouse, section and diagram of her big tow.
