DE SOTO

Built at Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1964 and snagged and lost near Omaha, Nebraska, in 1865. She was exhumed in 1963-1964 and found to be full of cargo. The cargo is on display at DeSoto Bend Wildlife Refuge, near Missouri Valley, Iowa together with an excellent model of the boat. Dimensions measured by archaeologists were used to make the drawings. Details include long and lateral sections.
